Head of Workplace Health & Safety 
Auckland based
Salary up to $150k per annum depending on experience

Carejobz Recruitment are assisting our client with the recruitment for a Head of Workplace Health & Safety. 
The purpose of this job is to be to lead the WH&S function in New Zealand by implementing and continuously improving a safe system of work that improves the wellbeing, health and safety and engagement of our client's people.
The job reports to People Director NZ….. Head of Wellbeing, Health & Safety (WHS) A&NZ.

This job is a full time position.
  
Main Responsibilities                                                                                 
  • Leading a team of H&S specialists to deliver H&S services to the organisation
  • Lead the construction and development H&S initiatives.
  • Running and managing construction site audit processes.
  • Implement the H&S recommendations paper.
  • Own and drive the strategic H&S plan to identify and focus on high priority aspects of the Wellbeing, Health & Safety (WHS) program of work.
  • Develop, improve, and maintain best fit and compliant frameworks, policies, systems, processes and practices in relation to H&S consultation.
  • Drive prevention initiatives, incident management and reporting.
  • Work closely with A&NZ H&S colleagues to share skills, knowledge and capability; working better and stronger together.
  • Manage H&S governance including timely and accurate reporting and analysis
  • Supporting, advising and training (at a senior level) on all wellbeing and health & safety matters.
  • Keeping up to date and well informed of all relevant H&S legislation ensuring the organisation stays in the proactive, best practice mode.
  • Monitor the external environment and provide timely, contemporary and relevant data and insights in relation to key H&S issues, innovation, benchmarking, policy and legislative changes.
  • Manage complex incidents as required.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare relevant and timely employee H&S related communications materials
  • Risk identification and mitigation in the H&S context.
  • Research, analysis, planning and training.
  • Reporting and analysis to improve performance, behaviour and monitor outcomes.
  • Partner with the broader A&NZ H&S team to develop initiatives and insight that drive better outcomes for employees and the organisation
  • Oversee ACC certification contracts and manage the injury management provider contract.

  To apply for this role you will need:                                                            
  • Have a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a Health & Safety role.
  • Hold a relevant qualification in Workplace Health & Safety or equivalent.
  • Proven track record in the understanding and delivering outcomes compliant with the latest NZ H&S legislation.
  • Senior level consultancy, advisory and or management experience and achievements in H&S in a large and geographically dispersed organisation, ideally in a mix of industries including (not restricted to) clinical/health/construction/high-risk environments.
  • Strong relationship management and influencing skills.
  • Experience in leading a team of specialists.
  • Proven process and functional capability in a matrix organisational setting.
  • Experience in successfully supporting and assisting the development and implementation of Wellbeing, H&S strategies, frameworks, systems, processes and policies.
  • Demonstrable capability in the broad range of H&S skills from risk and incident management to health and safety programs.
  • Sound analytical skills to extract insights from information and provide an informed opinion on H&S risks and the adequacy of controls.
  • Numerate, as well as software proficient.
  • Project/program administration, coordination and proficient in tracking projects.
  • Proven ability to perform and deliver often under tight time constraints.
  • Excellent research, and data collection skills, and proven ability to convert information and data into knowledge, and to communicate that knowledge in a meaningful and useful ways.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise competing demands in a customer focussed and outcomes centred manner.
  • Able to work collaboratively and effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders including more senior leaders, technical and functional specialists, business facing People Advisors and Consultants, Operational and Line Managers.
  • Senior level gravitas and demonstrable corporate adaptability.
