Lead Architect (HL7, FHIR), rolling contract | ACT


Our client is a government department who are seeking a Lead Architect with expertise in clinical systems for a 6 months rolling contract based in ACT

The Digital Health Record Program has carriage of the largest health ICT investment in this departments history which will transform the way health care is provided in the public health services.
The Digital Health Record will record all interactions between a person and public health services. This will include public hospitals, community health centres and walk-in centres. It is intended that most clinical specialists and locations will transition to the Digital Health Record in 2022-23.
The team will be comprised of people with diverse backgrounds including clinicians, systems support, administration and project management staff who will all work together to deliver these important outcomes.


The Lead Architect will deliver contemporary solution, integration and information architecture designs and specifications for the Digital Health Record. This encompasses activities from initial engagement, through to design and technical leadership of designated projects under the Digital Health Record Program.
The Lead Architect is responsible for;
  • leading the development of specifications, conceptual solution designs and detailed designs in alignment with Health Enterprise Architecture principles, and the department's Technology Reference Manual.
  • providing guidance and advice regarding business, application, information, integration and technology architecture to system administrators and the project teams.
  • leading a team of technical specialists responsible for interfaces, hosting and device and analyser integration.
  • engaging with end-users and clinical system owners to understand requirements to inform design and specification development.
  • leading the development of strategic frameworks, specifications and policies to ensure that the architecture for the Digital Health Record is clear, contemporary and in alignment with the digital Health Strategy 2019-29.
  • undertaking other duties appropriate to this level of classification that contribute to the Digital Health Record Program or Division.
Required Experience:
  • Degree or qualification in IT, software development, science or mathematics or equivalent.
  • Practitioner certification in PRINCE2, MSP and/ or TGOAF 9.
  • Understanding or knowledge of HL7 and FHIR messaging.
  • Experience in IT within the healthcare domain.
  • Adaptable and flexible
