The ChargeNet NZ story began in 2015 as a few enterprising Kiwis with a dream of encouraging people to turn on to electric vehicles. Through a mix of imagination, determination, and some pretty clever software they are now the largest privately owned, fast-charging network in the Southern Hemisphere!

With over 200 strategically positioned fast-charging stations, they give EV drivers a convenient and reliable EV charging network throughout New Zealand, from the Far North to the Deep South. They use cutting-edge hardware technology that’s rigorously tested to be safe and reliable.

As a natural part of their development as they scale-up, they are looking to hire their first in-house Financial Controller to manage all aspects of financial management for the company. 

Areas of focus include, but are not limited to:
  • Managing an Accounts Clerk, including providing all support and guidance for functions performed by that Accounts Clerk.
  • Set up (where required) and maintain appropriate internal financial controls, policies, procedures and financial information systems to satisfy an external audit
  • Full responsibility for preparation and delivery of ChargeNet’s management accounting and financial reporting functions including but not limited to – budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
  • Maintenance of the company’s 15-year forecast financial model
  • All financial and compliance reporting for the board
  • Preparing business case and scenario analysis for capital investments into the Charging Network
  • Managing cashflow, treasury and working capital
  • Satisfy taxation requirements for the company including income tax, GST, FBT and WHT – all completed in-house
  • Managing all aspects of external funding including liaising with potential equity and debt providers
  • Authorise payments to creditors.
  • Manage payroll.
  • Undertake new business as required.
  • Ensure the financial function adequately supports all other aspects of the business as it rapidly grows over the next few years.
We are looking for someone who is going to be of critical importance to ChargeNet’s development so for that reason we want someone who is going to be hugely passionate about who they are and what they do! 

We are looking for a Qualified Accountant who strikes the right blend of being able to support the CEO and wider business with commercial decision making but also is hands-on in all aspects. For that reason we are ideally looking for someone who has held a similar role in a rapidly growing company and is familiar with the challenges and hurdles to navigate on the journey. 

Based at the Albany head office with some initial flexibility around hours (this role is likely to scale up as the business does), this is a wonderful opportunity to join a rapidly growing (and leading) business in the EV market as it develops over the coming years.
