Health & Safety Manager

The Australian business is undergoing a period of exponential growth, following a run of successful PPP, D&C and EPC and O&M tenders in the major transport, renewable energy and building sectors. Bouygues is delivering the NorthConnex, Melbourne Metro and WestConnex projects and a number of large scale Solar Farms across Australia, and has recently acquired a building company to deepen its building capability in the market.

We are looking for an experienced Health & Safety Manager for our projects in Sydney / Melbourne.

You will be responsible for: 

• Implementing WHS strategies, systems and initiatives
• Monitoring the progress and effectiveness of WHS campaigns on site
• Driving a culture of WHS in accordance with Project Values
• Provide support, coordination and advice of Health Safety practices, systems and procedures within a defined project workplace.
• Administer education and mentoring compliance programs for the employees, contractors and visitors within a defined project workplace.
• Initiate and coordinate accredited training programs for occupational health and safety committee members and first aid officers.
• Conduct Health and Safety audits and inspections.
• Identify hazards and event prevention programs.
• Provide direction and support to the Project Leadership Team to develop and implement adequate Health and Safety training within a defined workplace.
• Implement occupational health and safety procedures based on approved project policies in the areas of health, safety and fire prevention.
• Coordinate the investigation of causes on site and maintain documentation in accordance with Health and Safety procedures.
• To provide Health and Safety specialist advice and technical input to delivery, ensuring that legal and contractual obligations / risks are identified and communicated appropriately.
• Maintain records of all Health and Safety requirements at the workplace, in accordance with legislative company requirements and provide statistical summaries of these records.
• Conduct return to work coordinator activities.
• Perform all duties in accordance with project policies, processes, systems, reporting and procedures.
• Ensuring that all employees and sub-contractors are adhering to the project Work Health and Safety Management plan, policies and procedures.
• Reflecting on Lessons Learnt and implement new strategies and initiatives
• Reporting safety performance on a regular basis to the Project Leadership Team and Corporate Executives
• Weekly and monthly reporting on safety KPI’s.

  
Qualifications 
Essential

• Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.

Desirable

• Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Engineering, Project Management or other associated disciplines.
• ISO45001 Lead Auditor Health and Safety Management Systems Qualification and ICAM Lead Investigator

Experience
Essential

• Tunnel, Civil, Building Construction, Mining or Oil & Gas experience(7+years).

Desirable

• Experience in Health & Safety Management techniques and tools.
• Quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and monitoring of risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of projects.
• Advanced skills in relevant computer software packages; use of basic functions of word processing, spread sheet and email software.
• Ability to conduct and interpret audits and reviews
