Duties and the Role

  • Configure automated browser-based testing systems and generate scripts to perform automated testing cycles
  • Write server-side unit tests and maintain unit testing suites
  • Develop and execute test cases, scripts, plans and procedures
  • Help to establish and evolve quality assurance (QA) processes
  • Help to establish and evolve continuous integration and deployment processes (CI/CD)
  • Perform software engineering functions as part of an agile development team:
  • Develop new software features for Skills Base web applications
  • Identify opportunities to improve user experience, performance, maintainability and reliability of software systems
  • Triage and investigate bug reports
  • Perform peer code reviews
  • Assist with prioritising and maintaining the product backlog
  
Expertise
  • Solid software engineering experience in a product-based environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of PHP 7 and Zend Framework or similar enterprise OO frameworks
  • Strong JavaScript development skills – Angular or other modern JS frameworks.
  • Ability (and desire) to write high-quality, testable and scalable software.
  • Understand Unit testing frameworks such as PHPUnit
  • Experience with browser testing frameworks such as Selenium
  • REST API design
  • Jira, Linux command-line (Ubuntu/Debian), Shell scripting
  • Docker, MySQL, AWS exposure.
