The Defence DLAN Engineer / SOP Designer will contribute to drafting / writing of a portfolio of standard operating procedures (SOP's) relating to the implementation of Australian Military Deployable Local Area Networks (DLAN’s). These documents will form part of the training program provided to recently enlisted Royal Australian Corps of Signals Information Systems Technician recruits, as well as senior escalation technical support stakeholders to Australian Army exercises and deployed operations.
 
Working within a highly classified, state-of-the-art data and information environment, the Defence DLAN Engineer / SOP Designer will review, analyse and document the installation, configuration and maintenance process for deployed LAN’s and WAN’s, with additional responisibility for documenting procedures for troubleshooting software, hardware and peripherals issues, and ensuring IT security is enforced throughout the Communications Node.  
 
You will work within a sophisticated systems and network infrastructure architecture including: Microsoft platforms (Windows Server, Outlook Suite, SharePoint etc.), network administration tools (Cisco routing & switching devices, IP telephony, network monitoring), and associated services, all within the scope of Defences Standard Operating Environment (DSOE).
 
The Defence DLAN Engineer / SOP Designer will be a former Royal Australian Corps of Signals (RASigs) Information Systems Technicians (ECN 661); ideally having attained ranks of Corporal or Sergeant whilst in service. You can be based from Australian Army bases in either Brisbane or Perth. You will be a confident, senior technologist with excellent communication, interpersonal and mentorship skills. Given the sensitive nature of the engagement, you will be required to hold an active (or recently inactive) Australian security clearance (ideally NV1+).
 
The role offers an ambitious, skilled ex-Defence ICT professsional the ability to affect significant, positive influence within a rapidly evolving Defence agency investing heavily in improvement and innovation.
