The role
Bis provides a range of services to our customer’s coal mine facility at Newlands, located west of Glenden, Central Queensland. These services include load & haul of coal from the stockpile to the wash plant, rejects haulage, road maintenance and dust suppression. We are seeking the services of an experienced and highly competent Site Manager to oversee our operations and help drive the ongoing success and management of the site. 

The position is offered on a weekday roster (5/2) with accommodation and tool-of-trade vehicle.

With our company expecting significant growth in the region, the successful candidate will play a leading role in this expansion and will work closely with the General Manager to facilitate this.
 
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate commitment to our goal of Zero Harm to both personnel and equipment;
  • Maintaining and developing an effective working relationship with the client, suppliers and other key stakeholders;
  • Lead by example through delegation and open communication of key business drivers, whilst ensuring ongoing development of your direct reports;
  • Monitoring and assessing safety & sustainability performance of all employees;
  • Ensuring identified risks are assessed, controlled and reported;
  • Ensuring the business unit is achieving production/operational plans and KPI's;
  • Providing strong and effective leadership to operational and maintenance crews by developing short term work and resource plans (people & equipment) and targets consistent with agreed KPI's; and
  • Facilitate and participate in all site critical communications including meetings, reports and client requests.
You will inspire your team, draw on their diverse skills and create an environment where great ideas are heard, and everyone looks out for one another.
  
About you:
  • Proven success leading and building a site team
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, with strategic leadership skills to ensure production targets are safely achieved;
  • Relevant tertiary qualification and supervisory competencies including S123 and G2;
  • Demonstrated site management experience within the resources industry;
  • Demonstrated experience within a mining services, transport or contracting environment;
  • Demonstrated experience managing client expectations, in conjunction with Bis' core values and strategic pillars;
  • Strong financial and commercial management skills including experience with managing bottom line P&L for a site, business group or project; and
  • Able to act as a strong and positive example to the workforce.
