About our client:

They grow their grapes according to organic and biodynamic farming principles. They make their highly sought after wine in small batches using innovative techniques, including guest winemakers from around the world. And they share and sell their wine with people who get joy from drinking it in environments that are personal and memorable.  One of the reasons why they don't sell to supermarkets! 

The Cellar Door and indoor and outdoor tasting area spill out onto curated gardens within full view of the grapes, a wonderful man-made lake and only ten steps from the centre of production. Every guest is met personally by a member of the team and their experience is the #1 KPI for everyone.

Hundreds of visitors every week (including internationals) can't be wrong - they want to be part of something really special.  This increased demand has led to this new role being created to take the whole show to the next level.

What you'll be doing:

You'll be responsible for the overall operation and sales activity of the Cellar Door, including forecasting and rostering the necessary staff requirements. 

Tastings, sales, excellent guest relations and leading the Cellar Door Sales Team are the key priorities, which will be achieved by ensuring the Cellar Door is attractively presented, any issues are immediately rectified or escalated as required, staffing levels are adequate, and staff perform to their KPIs.  The ultimate measure of performance in this role is increased sales and consistent customer satisfaction.

What we're looking for:

To be considered for an interview, you'll need to demonstrate quite a few things that will separate excellence from ordinary, but critically;
  • Ability to lead and develop team members
  • Sound organisational skills and a strong ability to prioritise and multi-task
  • Well-developed interpersonal communication and influencing and persuasion skills
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA)
  • Proven sales experience within a retail environment - wine industry experience a huge bonus
  • Customer Obsession – proactively meets customers’ needs
  • Experience working with POS systems
