THE ORGANISATION
A leading customer centric brand who are an ASX listed organisation. They are entrepreneurial, commercial and have an agile environment with a well resourced HR team.
 
THE ROLE 
Reporting to the HR Director, this role will lead a team of 3 in the payroll team.
This role will take ownership for the payroll function across AU & NZ including vendor management of their outsourced payroll:

  • Take ownership of leading the end-to-end payroll process for Australia & New Zealand including vendor management with our outsourced Payroll providers
  • Support the employee journey from onboarding through to exit via timely system & payroll updates
  • Interpret awards/ agreements against payroll outputs to ensure data integrity & accurate pay calculations
  • Guide & mentor a highly skilled & engaged Payroll team of 3 and act as the escalation point for queries
  • Provide feedback & support that guides and enhances the continual process improvement for payroll including the updating of policy's, annualised salaries & award reviews
  • Provide Unmissable employee experience through effective management & resolution of payroll inbox inquiries
  • Contribute & provide guidance in relation to Payroll governance, business and Board reporting
  • Own change management process between project to BAU, preparing the team for the transition to new insourced payroll system 
  • Research and learn the ways of working of the team, establish any gaps or needs for Payroll transition. Support with their development and ultimate succession planning. Plan for gaps in skills in BAU and process change.
  • Prepare process documents, reconciliation design, task design and role design for the transition of project to go live (functional task mapping)
  • Support the training and uplift of knowledge in the new system world for the direct payroll team and the wider business
  • Act as true functional expert on escalation items such as Tax, Super, Audit, complex package items
  • Work with Group HRD & Reward Manager on the design and development of Rem & Reward components and the roles/responsibilities of Payroll 
  • Focus on supporting, designing and implementing the compliance and audit checks internal to Payroll/HR in current world and future world
  

THE CRITERIA

  • You have proven experience leading a payroll team in a complex payroll environment at a large organisation
  • You’re an ‘experience’ led self-starter with a passion for process excellence and delivering an Unmissable ‘employee experience’ through payroll
  • You can demonstrate advanced knowledge of Australian & New Zealand legislative requirements & their relevance to our businesses.
  • You have technical capabilities across report writing, pay-code setup & understanding of payment tables and workflows in Tier 1 & 2 systems
  • You love problem-solving and collaborating with internal teams & stakeholders to create simple solutions to optimise efficiency and experience
