Oil Search was established in Papua New Guinea in 1929, where it operates all the country’s producing oil fields, holds an extensive appraisal and exploration portfolio and has a 29% interest in the PNG LNG Project. This world-class liquefied natural gas (LNG) development has transformed the Company into a major LNG exporter.

Newly created position, reporting to the Vice President - Enterprise Applications & Data Analytics, this role combines the dual roles of supporting execution of business strategy through technology, and realising business value. The position is primarily a non-technical role with a key stakeholder management focus working across key applications and vendors

Key activities and accountabilities for the role include:
  • Working directly with Business portfolio and the Digital & IT Leadership team to set strategy and formulate and drive solutions while communicating recommendations, and options
  • Capturing requirements, analysing and providing high-level solutions designs, and advancing new capability/functionality for the portfolio (including writing of robust business cases)
  • Relationship management of key senior stakeholders within portfolio
  • Introduction of portfolio governance, maintaining buy-in and energy for the forum.
  • Monitoring new technology trends/innovation and their potential application to the portfolio
  • Collaboratively working with architects to shape the appropriate enterprise infrastructure and applications landscape in line with the IT strategic roadmap
  • Working with portfolio leadership on annual IT budgets and forecasts
  • Evaluation of IT project objectives and analysing new business initiatives with associated benefits
  • Design and implementation of highly available and scalable solutions.
  • Working collaboratively and productively with cross-functional and geographically remote teams.
  • Managing ambiguity and uncertainty, whilst producing tangible results.
  • Managing challenging situations without loss of focus when under pressure.
To be considered for this exciting career opportunity we are looking for candidates with the following skills, technical capabilities, experience and qualifications:
  • Degree-level qualification, ideally in IT, with proven leadership experience and a track record of performance and delivery
  • 10+ years’ experience in a Business Relationship Manager role with proven commercial acumen and the ability to guide strategic direction and business growth through the application of Digital & IT solutions
  • Strong people management and coaching skills
  • Experience with contemporary engagement methods, including Proof of Concepts, application design and delivery methodologies (Waterfall/Agile).
  • Experience designing and implementing highly available and scalable solutions.
  • Developed and implemented business initiatives and projects, based on commercial objectives
  • Strong knowledge and experience managing 3rd party vendors and partners.
  • Demonstrated experience influencing senior stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of SAP and the application of relevant data analytics tools
  • Excellent problem-solving skills – able to identify and solve problems and escalate where appropriate
  • Good understanding and knowledge of how to leverage internal and business governance forums to deliver outcomes.
  • Formulation of value-driven business cases to support strategic solutions development
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across teams and within agreed process boundaries and project timelines
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to contribute to the innovation agenda and pre-delivery work through proficient Business Analysis and Project Management skills
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, disruptive thinker, willing to challenge existing assumptions and guardrails within the business
