Summary of role:
  • The Contract Manager role leads the processing of invoices and progress claims from Cubic.  This is not a finance task, but more of a dispute resolution and contract compliance task to analyse the invoices/claims and confirm whether they meet the contractual requirements. There are a number of invoice/claim areas which are contested between the parties, and this role leads the process of investigating and resolving issues in line with the contract. This forms the majority of the workload for this role.
  • The Contract Administrator currently processes the ‘simple’ invoices, under direction from the Contract Manager, with issues and questions to be escalated to you. The Contract Management team are knowledgeable and are good sources of advice and information. The Director is supportive, and will back you on your decisions.
  • There is also great scope for improvement and developing efficiency to be gained by working with the supplier to consolidate invoices and refine the processes of submission.
  • The role also leads the contract management of several other key contracts. This will include tasks such as regular performance meetings, KPI review, contract variations and extensions, and the development of formal letters to maximise contractual performance. The Contract Manager is also responsible for providing commercial support on tenders, under guidance of the Strategic Procurement team. The Contract Manager is responsible for drafting the contract management plan, and ensuring effective contract implementation following contract award.

This job would be perfect for someone who:
  • Likes being in charge of their own area of work, but can still share information and work closely with the wider team
  • Is self-motivated, with strong attention to detail
  • Has excellent Microsoft Excel skills
  • Loves a challenge
  • Enjoys varying workload and unusual requests to keep things fresh, and is able to balance the high pressure work with the steady background admin work to keep on top of it all.
  • Is a problem solver and is able to see to the heart of the issues, without getting bogged down by the side issues.
  • Is a go-getter and will search out work to do during times of lower workloads
  • Isn’t afraid to ask for help of their teammates, and will offer assistance in return
  • Is not afraid of a robust discussion, but can keep the discussion constructive (in terms of resolving disputes). Experience with formal dispute resolution is an advantage.
  • Knows their way around basic Contract Management (tenders, amendments, extensions etc).
  • Has knowledge of ARIBA
  • Has good verbal and written communication skills
