About the Opportunity
  
The role of the Lead Counsellor is to oversee a team of counsellors and support them in caring for students who are experiencing personal difficulties, which may impact their academic progress.
  
The Lead Counsellor will work to ensure compliance with the Code of Ethics set by their professional body and is proactive in supporting Counsellors in the provision of personal support to students by establishing processes and relationships that will ensure there is an effective and consistent support system in place nationally. 
  
Working from the National Counselling Guidelines, the Lead Counsellor will devise performance plans and professional development to assist all Counsellors in operating within these provisional parameters.
  
Reporting to Head of Student Experience, you will be responsible for:
  • Retaining and undertaking all of the requirements for the provision of counselling to domestic and international students.
  • Supporting Placement Counsellors working within the campus
  • Undertaking process of Performance Review for all direct reports.
  • Reviewing and updating National Counselling Guidelines as required
This is a Permanent Full Time position based at any of our campuses nationally

About You
  
To be successful in the Lead Counsellor position you will possess:
  • Qualifications in Counselling, Psychology, Education or a related discipline (or significant progress towards gaining qualification)
  • Eligibility for membership of relevant professional associations
  • Counselling experience within an educational setting would be highly regarded
  • A thorough knowledge of the counselling profession, legislative requirements and the provision of support services to students
  • Previous experience in leading and/or managing a team of counsellors
  • High-level verbal and written communication skills including report writing and presentation skills
  • High-level interpersonal skills including the ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts
  • Computing skills (MS Office, using databases etc.)
