The Role
 
We are looking for a highly capable Sales and Client Engagement Executive to lead the client activity for their rapidly growing rail consultancy.

You will be responsible for the strategic conception and execution of a market growth strategy in to the rail engineering and infrastructure verticals across Australia, particularly in NSW, Victoria & Queensland.
  • Identify new customers in the rail market predominately on the east coast of Australia and formulate and execute formal sales plans
  • Managing relationships with Government Bodies, Private Asset Owners, potential JV partners with associated Consulting Engineer
  • Sales cycles can be long ranging between 3 months up to 2 years and typical project values to our client range from $200k in to the millions.
  • As a senior member of the leadership team you will be comfortable working autonomously with technical input from the highly experinced (and very busy!) directors and SMEEs
  • You will have an existing network of contacts with the Government Bodies, Private Asset Owners, and market through technical knowhow  on a commercial level.
  • As a strong networker and initiator, you will thrive in an autonomous role where you will be given free rein to strategically plan and implement a go-to-market strategy.
  • You will be a strong communicator, hardworking and career minded, looking to work with a highly focussed rail consultancy where your work generating activity will be recognised, celebrated and rewarded.
  • Formulate, implement and manage strategic account management and business plans for existing customers
  • Identify strategic colleagues within the consultancy and establish relationship management plans to ensure that relevant personnel have appropriate and effective relationships.
  • This will include developing a detailed knowledge and understanding of each allocated customer’s management styles, their strategic objectives and organisational culture, their key players, their decision-making process, how they buy and sell, their business development /marketing strategies and tender/bid processes.
  • Contribute to the development of the business strategy and execute it when finalised, including securing revenue contracts consistent with the strategy to justify the capital investment.
  • Ensure the CRM and reporting system is always kept up to date and accurate.


About You

You enjoy sourcing an opportunity that inspires new solutions. Absolutely you know how to initiate external business development activities from cradle to grave and can clearly demonstrate sales originating experience. Ideally you will have:

  • Strong business development experience working at operational to executive level.
  • A deep understanding of Australian rail and communications sectors and Tier 1 contractors with a desire to transform this business understanding into business opportunities.
  • A Bachelor of Engineering, Business or Business Management.
  • Exceptional communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast-paced environment with multiple and competing demands.
  • A good knowledge of WHS legislation, Codes of Practice and Australian Standards as they apply to the Rail Maintenance Industry.

Remuneration

This role can be based in Sydney or Melbourne, with regular travel on the east coast of Australia.
