Senior Risk Analyst


This 2nd line risk role reports to the Risk Manager of a large Financial Services company in Melbourne CBD

My client is a large Financial Services Business with their Head Office in Melbourne CBD. As part of their journey to uplift their Risk and Compliance functions across the business, they are looking to onboard a further Senior Risk Analyst.
Main areas of responsibility:
  • Maintaining and developing the risk management framework, ensuring it satisfies internal and external requirements
  • Ensuring all risk information is uploaded accurately and efficiently to the GRC system
  • Acting as the custodian of the GRC system and related risk spreadsheets, as well as working with the business to ensure they are using the system to its full capability
  • Providing relevant risk advice to the business on a broad range of matters
  • Planning and scheduling of operating effectiveness and design effectiveness testing of controls, including remediation of ineffective controls
  • Managing incidents and breaches, ensuring they are logged in the GRC system and that root-cause analysis is undertaken to determine any control gaps.
  • Providing direction to the business on remediation issues and assisting with the implementation of any relevant process/procedural changes
  • Risk reporting to the board and relevant committees, ensuring risk data is analysed and findings are visualised.
  • Reviewing and updating of the Business Continuity Plan, and ensuring any changes are analysed to assess impacts to the business.
  • Designing and maintaining business-based process maps and documentation
  • Supporting the wider function with Risk-based projects and initiatives
  • Working closely with the Compliance and Audit teams
Desired background:
  • 3+ years Operational Risk/Compliance/Audit experience
  • Experience working in Financial Services, including a working knowledge of APRA Prudential Standards and guides
  • Experience in building and maintaining Risk profiles
  • Experience preferably from a 1st or 2nd line Risk role
