Blockchain Australia is the peak industry body that represents Australian businesses and business professionals participating in the digital economy through blockchain technology. Previously known as Australian Digital Currency Association (ADCA), Blockchain Australia aims to encourage the responsible adoption of blockchain technology by industry and governments across Australia, as a means to drive innovation, across all sectors of the economy. Blockchain Australia is a not for profit organisation.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with the leading Blockchain businesses in Australia and collaborate with government and professional service firms to deliver digital solutions and new technologies, to advance Australia. We are looking for a special person to help us navigate to the next stage of blockchain innovation and collaboration. 

As the CEO is stepping down at the end of June,  Blockchain Australia is seeking expressions of interest for a new CEO to continue to drive policy and advocacy and build the Blockchain community.  Reporting to the Chairman of the Board of Blockchain Australia, the CEO will partner with our membership team to deliver the Association’s objectives.

This role will initially be a 3 day a week part-time role for a 2-year engagement. As we are a national organisation, this role can be done from anywhere in Australia.

The roles and responsibilities include: Membership Growth Management & Engagement
  • Grow the organisation to be the pre-eminent blockchain organisation in Australia (and the region).
  • Build a sustainable membership model and drive membership of Blockchain businesses including, exchanges, startups and professional members.
  • As the industry spokesperson, represent Blockchain Australia to promote Blockchain technology.
  • Build the Blockchain Australia brand through social media campaigns, events and marketing strategies and newsletters.
  • Create strategic partnerships for Blockchain Australia to encourage growth.
  • Create an events strategy and run a series of Industry events.
Government and Regulation
  • Influencing the government to implement pro-blockchain legislation.
  • Securing sources of funding from the Government for Australian Blockchain projects.
  • Build international relations with other Blockchain Associations and Governments.
  • Work with Digital Currency Exchanges to ensure compliance with the Government regulations and contribute to future guidelines for digital currency policy.
  • Participate in and promote members to be part of the National Blockchain Roadmap and other govt committees. 
Corporate Strategy and Governance
  • Working with the Board of Directors, influence and implement the strategic plan for Blockchain Australia. 
  • Monthly Reporting to the Governance Committee and Board.
  • Drive Board sub-committees and working groups committees (exchanges, roadmap, markets, tax, securities) and report activities to the board.
  • Build and manage an annual budget
  • Manage the Membership Manager, other staff and contractors.
Skills required to be successful in this role, include:
  • You have worked as a Senior Manager in the Blockchain, Cryptocurrency or Emerging Tech industry.
  • You will have a record of success with building a membership, customer base and/or community. 
  • You will have built strong ties to the Government (State and Federal) and have strong stakeholder management skills. 
  • You will have a presence as an industry leader and spokesperson and understand the mechanics of running a membership organisation. 
  • You will be a strong influencer and have ideally been associated with education programs and events. 
  • You will have a strong record of building positive lasting relationships with stakeholders.
