A new opportunity exists for a Category & Sourcing Analyst.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Strategic Procurement Manager, the Category & Sourcing Analyst will perform research, data analytics, performance measurement, reporting and other forms of analysis as required in support of the Category Management and Strategic Sourcing Team.

You will also support Category Managers with the development and continuous improvement of category spend analytics, forecast demand profiles, market research, internal data analysis, category and supplier performance reporting and benefits tracking to enhance the commercial outcomes obtained from ARTC key categories.

You will have the ability to source data and develop demand forecasts for the broader ARTC business, while setting up and developing a consistent approach to data collection, collaboration and analysis including, but not limited to analysis, reporting, and data visualisations.

You will work collaboratively with the Analytics and Reporting Officer in regard to research, providing information, liaising with business units, ensuring accuracy as well as reporting and administrative support, including supply market assessments, cost analysis, pipeline and project status reporting.

In this position you will have regular communication and interaction with the wider Procurement and Contracts team and across the business units as required.

About you:

Knowledge, skills and experience required for this role:

• Tertiary qualifications in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Studies, Mathematics or related discipline.
• Demonstrate business acumen with a preference towards a construction background from a medium to large construction/maintenance environment.
• Experience with market research, ABS data, contracts, planning and finance systems in a large national company and knowledge of relevant process flows.
• Adaptable with a strong work ethic and excellent personal management and organisation skills.
• Very strong analytical skills and able to manage, sort and summarise significant amounts of data whilst being able to seek new information and explore topics in-depth in order to report in a clear and succinct manner.
• Advanced Excel user with the skills and knowledge to develop custom reporting templates
• Working knowledge and proven experience in developing custom reporting and dashboards using Tableau, Power BI, Qlik and/or other contemporary data visualisation SaaS platforms
• Experience in OLAP or SQL Cube data management and reporting
• Significant problem-solving skills and a strategic thinker with the ability to find solutions and present insights and build action plans from data analysis.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team, assist and promote the team, and drive effective outcomes in a fast-changing environment.
• Culturally resilient and capable of managing change in a challenging environment.
• Good communication skills, both oral and written, together with demonstrated interpersonal skills for communication with internal stakeholders.

Desirable for this role:

• Knowledge of the rail industry.
• Previous work experience in a Procurement-related field preferably in Source-to-Pay and/or other ‘Big Data’ management technologies.
