Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) is a major national organisation responsible for managing infrastructure maintenance, capital upgrades and the movement of trains on the Hunter Valley coal rail network and interstate railway track across South Australia, Victoria, Western Australia, New South Wales and Queensland. A new opportunity exists for a Strategic Sourcing Specialist.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Strategic Sourcing Lead, the Strategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for developing and executing strategic sourcing strategies and plans aligned to the relevant category management plan, as well as to manage the sourcing and contracting of higher value and risk Level 4 and 5 sourcing events.

In this role you will develop strategic stakeholder relationships within business units in order to secure early engagement into relevant higher value and risk Level 4 and 5 sourcing events, confirm business requirements, build understanding of strategic sourcing processes and form integrated sourcing teams.

You will work in an integrated and collaborative manner across the ARTC business to optimise commercial outcomes. Liaise closely with the Procurement & Contracts Support Team to provide integrated solutions to business units.

About you:

Knowledge, skills and experience required for this role:

• Demonstrated sourcing/contract/supply/tendering management experience with a preference towards construction and indirect procurement in a medium to large company environment.
• Experience with contracts, planning and finance systems in a large national company and knowledge of the relevant process flows.

• Demonstrable experience delivering and managing supply contracts from procurement plans, market analysis, tender development, complex tender reviews, ongoing supplier performance management and an excellent understanding of the probity and ethics of tendering.
• Sound understanding of contracting/purchasing principles, acts and legislation relative to commercial agreements, vendors and the management, selection and vetting of suppliers.
• Ability to fully understand, promote and monitor compliance of ARTC policy and procedure.
• A good understanding of Work Health and Safety obligations and safety in construction.
• Well-developed skills in commercial acumen, negotiation, influencing, project management and problem solving.
• Culturally resilient and capable of managing change in a challenging environment.
• Good communication skills, both oral and written, together with demonstrated interpersonal skills for communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• The ability to demonstrate a strong commitment to outstanding customer service and stakeholder engagement.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and drive effective outcomes in a fast-changing environment.

Desirable Selection Criteria:

• Knowledge of the rail industry.
• Previous tender/procurement coordination and project management experience.
• CIPs accreditation.
• Knowledge of tendering and the legislation and CPR’s related to Commonwealth Funded Projects.
• Ability to be able to travel nationally within the dimensions of this role.
