About the Role
The role of the Train Transit Manager is to provide effective day to day management of the safe transit of trains across the ARTC network to achieve ARTC's corporate objectives of reliability, transit times and on time entry and exit strategies.
Reporting to the Service Delivery Manager, you will be responsible for a team of Network Controllers on a rotating shift roster, managing the ARTC network. You will work closely with ARTC's customers and other stakeholders to ensure a safe and efficient service operation, and to effectively manage incidents as they arise.
As the trains on ARTC's Network don't stop, neither does Network Control. As such, this position operates on a 24-hour, 7 day per week roster.
About You
To be successful in this role, you must be an exceptional communicator with management experience from within the Transport and Logistics Industry, or another related operating environment. In addition, we are looking for candidates who have:  
  • Ability to build a team, work as a team member and lead and manage staff
  • Proven experience and ability to develop sound productive and professional business relationships, including building rapport with Customers
  • Strong computer literacy - word processing, spread sheets, databases and email
  • A positive work attitude and ability to work with all levels of staff effectively.
  • Demonstrated decisiveness, with the ability to resolve issues quickly and safely under pressure and deliver a satisfying result to customers and direct reports.
  • The ability to adapt and remain flexible in a changing environment.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills including strong attention to detail.
