About the Position
As the Graduate Health Safety Environment and Wellbeing Advisor, you will:
  • Support the Principal Advisor Safety and Environment the corporate investigations team in the management of incident notification and internal reporting.
  • Coordinate health and wellbeing program across the Interstate unit
  • Manage the Hazard/Near Miss Reporting system in conjunction with the Area Safety Advisors ensuring that key learning’s are disseminated across the Interstate Unit and Hunter Valley.
  • Manage the safety systems on behalf of the Principal Advisor Safety and Environment including Appian, Onsite and the Interstate SharePoint Site.
  • On behalf of the Principal Advisor Safety and Environment, manage the effective close out of WH&S and Rail Safety issues and completion of corrective actions across the Interstate Network.
  • Collect and analyse data and statistics for both safe working and safety events to inform a targeted approach to safety improvements.
  • Facilitate safety document reviews to ensure documents are compliant, effective and useful to those that need to use them.
  • Provide necessary advice and assistance to line management in reference to communication with regulators to ensure consistent and accurate information.
  • Provide regular reporting to the Principal Advisor Safety and Environment on rail safety and workplace safety key performance and lead indicators.
  • Manage key project initiatives as directed by the Principal Advisor Safety and Environment in order to meet customer demands
  • Provide assistance and support to other members of the Interstate team during peak workloads.
About You
We are seeking candidates with the following skills and experience;
  • Tertiary qualifications in Environment, Safety, Business, Work Health & Safety, Psychology or a relevant discipline
  • Knowledge of systemic investigative and reporting techniques, with an emphasis on industry and human factors.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant WH&S legislation, standards and codes of practice including injury management, workers compensation and return to work procedures.
  • Ability to understand, analyse and interpret statistical information.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and a clear understanding of general safety systems.
Some periodic travel may be required.
