We look for people who share our core values of integrity, excellence, collaboration, sustainability and innovation.  We are seeking experienced Youth Workers for casual shifts, including sleepover shifts, in East Gippsland, around the Bairnsdale Region.
 

The role: 
  • Provide support and a high quality care to a younger demographic
  • Ensure their needs are met as outlined within their individual plans
  • Work collaboratively and professionally with the Residential team members
  • Engage families where appropriate to ensure young people have the opportunity to reconnect, reunify and understand their family history
  • Be a role model and demonstrate positive attributes that allow young people to learn and feel safe, which reduces their vulnerability, builds resilience and encourages aspirations for their future
  • Support people living with a disability in a group residential or day placement setting. This can involve manual handling, community access, transportation, personal care and companionship.

What you will need:
  • A minimum 6 months full time paid residential work experience, youth preferred.  
  • Certificate IV in Child, Youth, Family Intervention OR the Top Up Units on top of a Cert IV or higher
  • 2 professional industry reference checks 
  • Reliability, punctuality and a commitment to customer care is a must
  • Valid drivers license and reliable car

New Legislation for Residential Youth Houses - 
  • Please note as of January 1st 2018 to be eligible to work in a Residential Youth House in Victoria you must have completed the following Top Up Units- 

    1. CHCMHS007 – Work effectively in trauma informed care.
    2. CHCPRT010 –  Work with children and young people with complex trauma and attachment issues and needs.
    3. CHCPRT009 –  Provide primary residential care.
    4. CHCCCS009 –  Facilitate responsible behavior.
* This was brought in by the Department of Health and Human Services and is now a requirement for all Youth Workers working in Residential Youth Housing.
