What’s the opportunity?

In this role you will drive forward the use of DevOps, SRE and IaC approaches and tools within Vocus to meet S&I project and service goals. 

You will contribute to tool selection and engineering to provide innovative solutions for use by S&I operational teams

What you’ll be doing in the role:
  • Design, develop and implement platforms to manage the deployment, monitoring and control of Vocus infrastructure and applications, focussing on high quality engineering, security, cost effectiveness and efficiency, ensuring the solutions are repeatable, reliable, and scalable
  • Provide operational and lifecycle support for critical platforms and deployments, with all required procedural documentation, and identify / resolve operational issues in line with Vocus policies and procedures
  • Provide technical expertise to advance Vocus outcomes in DevOps-led solutions, with Level 3 technical support to stakeholder teams
  • Develop new approaches and assess new technologies to encourage continuous service improvement across the deployments and teams
  • Other tasks as directed
What you will need to be successful in a team like this:
  • Strong skills in DevOps, SRE, IaC and security frameworks and best practices
  • Detailed understanding of the design of enterprise-grade IaC, containerisation and orchestration systems for cost effective, scalable, supportable and operationally efficient outcomes:
    • ○ Puppet, Ansible, Foreman
    • ○ Docker, Kubernetes
    • ○ GitOps
    • ○ Terraform, Packer
    • ○ Jenkins, TeamCity
  • Detailed understanding of public cloud services and architectures
    • ○ GCP (GCE, GKE, CloudSQL, BigQuery)
  • Detailed understanding of infrastructure models and technologies for hyperconvergence and virtualisation:
    • ○ VMware ESXi, vCloud Director
    • ○ Nutanix AOS/AHV
    • ○ KVM
  • Detailed understanding of complex systems monitoring solutions
    • ○ InfluxDB, M3, Prometheus, Grafana
  • Strong understanding of operational observability and analysis solutions:
    • ○ Elastic (including SIEM and APM)
  • Strong scripting/programming and code management skills
    • ○ Go, python, perl, git
  • Intermediate project management skills and an ability to prioritise multiple tasks
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills coupled with a customer focus
  • Proven analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Previous experience with Service Provider and Cloud technologies
  • 5-7 years of commercial experience in IT/Network Engineering coupled with professional qualifications in Computer Science or Electronics Engineering.
