The Software Development Manager Manager is responsible for running the outsourced Software Development teams working with the organisation on specific, highly mission critical projects. The successful candidate will have a strong technical understanding of Software Development (this is predominantly a Java environment), demonstrated experience in dealing with and managing Tier 1/Tier 2 technology vendors in a multiple teams and projects environment.

This absolute focus of this role is managing the technical delivery from the vendors and ensuring that the business owners, typically, Product Managers, Product Owners and Solution Architects ensuring that technical delivery is in line with the business expectations and being executed accordingly. Further, the ability to work internally with international teams and stakeholders to derive optimal delivery outcomes is imperative.

There will be 4-5 Team Lead level direct reports to this role from the vendor side. The people management component is critical to ensure that delivery remains exceptional and on time.

Key attributes:
  • 10+ years’ experience in a large-scale, mission-critical Software Development environment
  • Demonstrable track record managing Vendor teams with at least 4-5 direct reports
  • Exceptional understanding of the IT Vendor/Client relationship environment
  • Strong stakeholder management experience. The ability to communicate at all levels from user to CxO
  • Good business acumen with heightened analytic capability
  • Knowledge of payments would be highly regarded
  • Excellent technical capability and knowledge in a Software Development environment – understand the SDLC
  • 2-3 years’ experience in team management
  • A compelling communicator that is outcome and customer focused.
