The Risk Assurance Officer is responsible for performing individual internal assurance projects, as part of the total internal assurance plan.

Position Summary:

The Risk Assurance Officer is responsible for performing individual internal assurance projects, as part of the total internal assurance plan. The Risk Assurance Officer will assist in developing internal assurance scope, performing internal assurance procedures, and preparing internal assurance reports reflecting the results of the work performed.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Work collaboratively with the relevant lines of business teams to ensure all internal assurance requirements are undertaken according to the Internal Assurance Plan.
  • Work with the line of business Managers to support the day-to-day operations of Tandem through monitoring and improving compliance and data quality.
  • Review subcontractors to ensure they are aware of compliance requirements and deadlines relevant to their work type and facilitating the delivery of requirements as per Tandem’s requirements.
  • Ensure that Tandem’s clients risk, compliance and assurance requirements are understood across the existing and emerging businesses and that business frameworks are developed and monitored to meet these requirements
  • Support the coordination of assurance requirements in line with the Tandem internal assurance plan.
  • Identify potential areas of risk – work with the Risk and Licensing Manager to develop and implement corrective action plans for resolution and provide general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations.
  • Work with the Risk and Licensing manager and other stakeholders to implement new strategies and systems to improve assurance performance as required.
  • Other duties as directed by Tandem.
What we're looking for:
  • Understanding of internal control concepts and experience in applying them to plan, perform, manage and report on the evaluation of various business processes/areas/functions.
  • Ability to work independently, with limited required direction and guidance, and provide appropriate direction to other internal project team members.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, to effectively present to peers and management.
  • Exhibit the leadership skills needed to sell ideas and obtain management buy-in for constructive change.
  • Understanding of internal assurance standards and risk assessment practices.
  • Experience in performing multiple projects and working with varying team members.
  • 2-3 years experience in similar role.
  • Chartered accounting firm experience highly regarded.
