Founded in 2010,  partners with retail hosts, hotels, shopping centers, gas stations parking lot operators, and other stakeholders to make it easier to fast charge your EV close to where you live, work and play. In early 2021  announced its intent to go public.
Position Summary:

They are looking for an EVSE Systems Validation Engineer to specify, test, and validate end-to-end charging system functionality including hardware, firmware, communications, and cloud-based software.  This role is a key contributor in ensuring  charging systems operate at the maximum uptime while providing a seamless customer experience by skillfully finding, reporting, and tracking through correction any system or device-level issues, bugs, or glitches. If you have familiarity with real-time systems, the Internet of Things, or EV charging; have a track record of writing and executing test cases, and are passionate about product quality, we would like to meet you.
Responsibilities:
  • Define verification tools and develop verification methods
  • Create and execute validation plans
  • Review verification plans with EVSE engineering, Software development, Customer Support, and equipment suppliers.
  • Document validation results
  • Review, analyze and report verification results
  • Debug, analyze, and track through correction issues found during verification
Testing, Validating, and Documentation
  • Write test cases for end-to-end functionality, including abnormal and edge cases.
  • Test charging system software for communication between the charging system and the cloud. Familiarity with OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol) is preferred.
  • Use debugging tools for communication between the vehicle and the EVSE.
  • Validate HMI screen flows and user interface implementation in charging systems
  • Evaluate testing solutions, QA documentation, test case execution based on business functional/technical requirements and user stories.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure that test coverage validates, to a high degree of confidence, test cases defined within the project's test plan.
  • Accountable for the continuous release of high-quality EVgo products.
  • Ensure the appropriate testing and monitoring tools/technologies are configured accordingly with the test objectives/project team requirements.
  • Assemble, debug and qualify new test systems; hands-on identification of bug trends, defects, and resolution working closely within teams.
  • Strong technical abilities - able to work closely with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, software engineers, and IT networking professionals
  • Track and communicate task progress, status, and key performance metrics Contribute to enhancing QA processes and procedures.
  • Highly analytical with the ability to gather and analyze large sets of information, excellent problem-defining, problem-solving skills
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Communicate effectively across multiple teams/external vendors. Teams include Project Teams, Quality management, Field operations, UI development, and developers, etc.
  • Partner with the software product management team on developing the operating platform and integrating the charging system and energy management solutions.
  • Develop and manage suppliers including equipment development, qualification testing, field testing, and complete system implementation.
  • Support continuous maintenance cost reductions through streamlined hardware product vision and analysis of existing network operational data.
Qualifications and Required Skills:
  • BSc/BEng degree in electrical engineering, computer science or equivalent, minimum 2 years’ experience
  • Experienced with JSON
  • Fluency with CAN debugging tools, such as CANalyser or CANoe
  • Experienced with WireShark, network protocol analyzer.
  • Test experience with OCPP, DIN 70121, or ISO 15118 preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with embedded cellular data communications and virtual private networking
  • Skillful and efficient in creating QA documentation for the development team and partners
  • Owns the testing cycle and continuous product improvement
  • Passion to deconstruct problems to understand the root cause
