Gelion have developed the industry leading non-flow Zinc Bromide (ZnBr) battery technology that delivers a safe, cost-effective, long-life alternative to lithium-ion and lead acid (PbA) battery technologies.

Endure’s patented gel enables a unique non-flow battery design for its ZnBr chemistry. This maximises the battery safety and enables its low cost attributes, negating some of the burdens associated with conventional flow batteries including high manufacturing cost, additional capex, maintenance and other mechanical systems.

The Role

Gelion are seeking an Engineering Director to build out their capabilities in power electronics, battery management systems (BMS) and project management.

The role is Sydney based and will report into the CEO.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Build and lead an engineering team
  • Develop the hardware and software to integrate the batteries into complete customer ready solutions with battery management systems and power electronics
  • Lead and contribute to proposals to supply turnkey energy storage systems
  • Manage and nature key external stakeholder relationships
  • Manage internal relationships with other teams and ensure great collaboration
  Required Experience and Qualifications
  • Electrical or Electronic Engineering degree or similar
  • Previous engineering experience with grid-connected power electronics for solar, wind, or other renewable power generation, or grid-connected batteries
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems and equipment applicable to the engineering and construction of generation facilities
  • Knowledgeable in renewable energy and electrical safety and performance standards
  • Familiarity with Battery Management Systems and data acquisition systems a plus
  • Candidate must be innovative, with strong troubleshooting skills and must be flexible, with the ability to organise, prioritize, execute and follow up on many concurrent duties, as well as adapt quickly to changes in business priorities
  • Planning and project management skills for multiple change efforts
