ABOUT OUR CLIENT
Our client is a preeminent tertiary institution that makes distinctive contributions to society in research, learning and teaching and engagement.   An opportunity has arisen to join the Finance & Performance function of the School of Engineering on a 12-month maternity leave contract.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This role plays a critical role in delivering superior financial management outcomes to ensure that the School of Engineering is strongly positioned to deliver on its strategy.

Reporting to the Senior Finance Business Partner, this role will partner with sub-schools and departments to achieve local teaching and research-based financial outcomes. The role develops the sub-schools’ budget in partnership with sub-school leadership team and oversees the finance and accounting activities (non-transactional) related to research grants and contracts and in-year financial reporting and monitoring.

This role provides sound financial advice and has an element of business partnering, builds trust by developing and maintaining professional relationships with key stakeholders across the School including Executives, senior academic staff and professional managers.

EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, and CA/CPA qualified.
  • Experience in the tertiary education sector is preferred and will be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately and efficiently prepare financial reports and to analyse, review and interpret reports for senior management and various other user groups
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, monitoring financial performance, analysing and reporting on variances and workforce modelling
  • Highly-developed communication skills, including the ability to prepare a range of documentation and presentation for various audiences and interact with & gain commitment from a diversity of stakeholders.
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret data, identify trends/issues, and make practical recommendations.
  • Responsiveness and flexibility to changing priorities and a proven capacity to work well in a high pressure environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse, plan, organise and review work flows and processes to ensure efficient service delivery and ability to drive continuous process improvements.
  • Demonstrated experience in interpreting and applying relevant policies to financial transactions to ensure compliance.
  • Excellence in building and establishing strong effective relationships and work collaboratively with stakeholders internal and external  across all levels
  • Demonstrated experience in adapting to new situations, quickly assimilating new concepts and information, and developing positive, innovative solutions to operational issues.
