Our client is an innovative animal health company who focuses on providing research-based solutions to improve the health, well-being & productivity of animals. They see an opportunity within the Companion Animal (pet) sector and are seeking an experienced Account Manager within Western Australia and South Australia.


Working closely with the National Sales Manager, the successful encumbent will develop sales, promotional and marketing strategies to establish the brand, drive sales and achieve market share aspirations. The key to this role’s success is the ability to work autonomously in opening new accounts, leveraging new and existing relationships, securing valuable in store and off location shelf space and achieving sales and margin targets.

  • Open new accounts (both independents and state based chains), develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve sales targets and achieve business objectives within the territory;
  • Drive sales and promotional activities for existing and new products to achieve or exceed sales targets;
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with retail staff, veterinary nurses, territory managers, buyers, Vets and Principals;
  • Maintain a regular call cycle of accounts and provide best in class customer service;
  • Maintain accurate details and records of retailer meetings, store & clinic calls;
  • Provide the National Sales Manager with regular analysis, updates and reports as required;
  • Conduct product and brand training sessions for retail and veterinary staff on a regular basis; and
  • Represent the business at customer meetings and trade conferences.
  • At least 5 years sales experience as an Account Manager in a relevant category within the Pet Speciality or Veterinary channel in Victoria;
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, nutrition or veterinary experience is advantageous;
  • Possess a passion for sales, and a track record of exceeding sales targets in the pet speciality industry;
  • Have exceptional sales and customer relationship skills;
  • High level written and verbal communication skills with a passion for detail;
  • Excellent financial, analytical and sales forecasting skills;
  • Be entrepreneurial and creative, with a passion for developing strategies to drive sales, profit and take
    market share;
  • Are a mature, collaborative and engaging individual with sophisticated relationship and interpersonal skills who can
    effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels;
  • High energy, self-motivated and resilient with a strong work ethic and moral compass to do the right thing by the customer, the team and the business.
