Our client are a fifth-generation Australian family-owned business with solid leadership employing 1000 people nationally.  Leading divisions consist of construction, engineering, rural infrastructure, water storage, electrical and mining services.

Due to their continued growth and an increased project pipeline, an opportunity has been created for an Estimator Lead for their Mining Services Division based in Perth, WA.

Your New Role
The role would be across a portfolio of developing and active projects.
  • Assess project scope, value, risk and competition for a range of projects within the Mining industry;
  • Prepare preliminary budgets based on minimal information;
  • Identify points of difference or competitive advantage and develop tender strategies to increase the likelihood of project award;
  • Review engineering and technical capabilities with internal stakeholders;
  • Source competitive quotations from subcontractors and suppliers;
  • Identify and include risk mitigation strategies in contract pricing;
  • Assist in the negotiation of contractual terms, both with clients and subcontractors;
  • Maintain an accurate and up to date internal estimating database to streamline costing;
  • Ensure that cost estimates are consistent with tender criteria and scope;
  • Communicate the specifics of successful tenders to Project personnel and ensure that handover is detailed and thorough;
  • Assist project teams through project execution, including the calculation of any contract variations;
  • Identify cost saving and cost optimisation opportunities.

About You
We are seeking a candidate with:
  • Minimum 10-years’ experience working in a multi-disciplined environment in mining, processing infrastructure and commercial industries;
  • Quantity Survey exposure would be a major plus as would any level of technical training / education;
  • Must be quality and data driven and capable of identifying risk / opportunity from experience and recognizable trends;
  • Proven ability to multitask, with the capability to work across a portfolio of projects simultaneously;
  • Effective written and oral communication skills; including proven negotiating and developing cooperative relationships;
  • Ability to travel to various client sites if required;
