We are currently seeking an experienced Continuous Improvement Engineer for our conveyor belt manufacturing plant in Kwinana.    With over 150 years of belt experience, Fenner Dunlop is the local Australian manufacturer you need to keep your operations moving. We are currently needing a hands-on Continuous Improvement Engineer to analyse existing production processes and make recommendations for changes to working methods that will minimise risk, cost and wastage; and improve the quality and consistency of final conveyor belting products by utilizing continuous improvement techniques.  

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor, analyse and evaluate existing production processes and develop recommendations for changes to working methods or operation sequence that will minimise risks, costs, wastage, increase yields and productivity, improve quality and consistency of final products.
  • Manage and lead continuous improvement projects by applying Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools and methodology in the implementation of manufacturing excellence initiatives.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Provide engineering and technical support to maintenance and production personnel.
  • Train and lead cross-functional continuous improvement teams; focusing on measurable safety, quality, productivity and cost improvements.
Selection Criteria:
  • Tertiary qualifications in an engineering discipline (Mechanical preferred)
  • Significant experience in continuous improvement/process engineering within a manufacturing environment, heavy industry preferred
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience reviewing production processes & making improvements to ensure a quality product is produced
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including experience with MS Project.
  • Proven experience identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Experience with Six Sigma, LEAN or KAIZEN, process improvement techniques and tools experience
  • A strong commitment to safety and quality
  • Ability to provide training to others on LEAN manufacturing and other process improvement techniques
  • General knowledge of conveyor belting, systems, mining conveyor plant and equipment (desirable); and
  • Well-developed communication skills.
