This not for profit health insurer has a real commitment to customer experience delivery.  With a strong community spirit and over 800 employees, it is one of WA's most respected brands.  About to embark on a significant strategic transformation program, they are actively growing their actuarial and analytics teams.

This role is for an Actuarial Analyst who is most likely to have completed their Part II exams and keen to proceed to Fellowship.  An enquiring mind with experience across the Actuarial Control Cycle, you will be invited to be involved in a broad range of projects to deliver exceptional analytical services, insights and recommendations to support business decisions.

For example:

  • Partner with decision makers within HBF to understand business requirements for data, information, analyses, forecasts and reports in order to deliver higher quality insights to improve organisational performance
  • Leverage and promote the use of existing and new Business Intelligence tools, extract from underlying data sources, pertinent information and insights for use in analysis, reporting, modelling and simulation
  • Own and drive key data analytics projects e.g. profiling, segmentation, propensity modelling, value based modelling, predictive analytics, with clear articulation on business outcomes
  • Proactively analyse and advise key stakeholders on the impact of changes that business decisions and system processes may have on business metrics and information
  • Mentor and coach other team members
  • Assist with the delivery of high quality underwriting margin forecasts
  • Undertake risk pricing, product pricing, actuarial and commercial analysis

The successful individual will:

  • Have solid actuarial experience (approx 4-5 years) across pricing, reporting and valuations, preferably with a health insurer
  • Be a data driven individual who is keen to advance their analytics capability
  • Commercially minded, able to manage stakeholders and deliver on actionable insights
  • Have very good communication and presentation skills
  • Strong technical knowledge, preferably with SQL and SAS 
  • Experience of visual analytics e.g. Tableau
  • Strong predictive and descriptive modelling skills
