About the role
Be embraced into a well established team of professionals with an excellent industry reputation. This role will see you managing ~50 people on-site at the Fabrication, Blast and Paint workshop. You'll lead welders, fitters, foremen, and other trades people. You'll be tasked with:
  • Ensuring the workflow and efficiency of projects is maximised across multiple workstreams
  • Setting time frames which are realistic and in turn achieved
  • Continual review of our processes and equipment and feeding back to the General Manager where opportunities exist to optimize operations
  • Ensuring all workshop jobs are delivered safely to a high quality on time and on budget
  • Liaising with clients, Project Managers, and Engineers
This workshop has a large team who rotate between being in the workshop for fabrication (under your management), and being in the field for installation and assessment. Your role will be 60% people management, and 40% technical. Fabrication projects are varied and interesting - anything from a 500 tonne structure down to a 1 inch pipe weighing 1 kg.

Skills & experience
Ideally you'll have experience with heavy fabrication of oil and gas/mining related structures, such as pressure piping, pressure vessels etc. in a workshop environment.
  • Previous experience with the development and implementation of manufacturing / production systems that improve efficiencies e.g. lean manufacturing
  • Experience with leading large teams including supervisory and trades staff
  • Proven commitment to HSE best practices systems and solutions
  • Working knowledge of Quality Control systems and how they interface with production methods
  • Trade qualified
