Background

Insurance team

This fantastic opportunity will see you joining the Insurance group and working closely with the wider litigation team, advising on insurance and reinsurance matters. The ambit of your work will include advising local, global and ASX-listed corporate policyholders across ‘front-end’ matters (e.g. policy wording interpretation and insurance issues in major projects) and complex insurance claims.

Given the nature of the team's practice, you are likely to gain exposure to the full gamut matters including directors' and officers' liability, property damage and business interruption, public liability, contract works and professional indemnity matters.

Key involvements by the team have included advising:
  • on a medical device product liability class action
  • on a $500 million property damage and business interruption insurance claim
  • the directors and officers of an entity in liquidation in relation to public examinations by the liquidator
  • a property developer in respect of indemnity issues, and
  • a client on complex insurance coverage and transfer issues relating to the sale/restructure of a $1 billion property business.
Requirements

You will be an Insurance lawyer with between 2 and 5 years' experience from a notable law firm (or in-house legal team).

Whilst not a requirement, you will ideally have some experience in one of the following areas: directors' and officers' liability, property damage/business interruption, public liability, and/or professional indemnity work.

In addition, successful candidates will have:
  • excellent communication skills, including the ability to liaise with legal and other professionals and clients as necessary, and
  • ambition with a desire to excel their career, working collaboratively across the national/international practice group.
