Momentum Consulting has been engaged to source an experienced Construction Observer / Building Inspector for this influential government client. This is an exciting opportunity that will allow the successful candidate to apply their strong technical knowledge in order to identify potential construction issues and make recommendations for appropriate solutions.
The purpose of the role is to determine whether construction projects have been completed according to the specified construction documents and reporting findings. Some of the responsibilities include:
  • Construction observation and regular site visits – identify and report risks as construction progresses
  • Monitor construction works including demolition, foundation, building envelope construction, service installation, internal fit-out, above and below ground infrastructure works, and landscaping.
  • Managing quality assurance process, maintaining a register of issues and risks
  • Building effective relationships and conflict resolutions
  • Stakeholder management and engagement – ensure clear and concise communication and responsiveness
  • Provide input into area planning and reporting activities
  • Provide guidance on Health and Safety

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following;
  • At least 10 years construction experience is essential
    Proven skills and experience in working with design and construction teams and key stakeholders
  • Technical understanding of the NZ development and building industry and processes, including the knowledge of the: Building Act, Health & Safety at Work Act
  • Strong relationship skills and stakeholder engagement - internally and externally
  • High level of understanding of government procurement models preferred
  • Strong skills in identifying risks and implementing lessons learnt
  • Strong report writing skills
  • A full NZ Driver Licence
