This internal strategic advisory and analytical role is within one of Australia’s premier banking groups and is an exciting career opportunity for an experienced Corporate Finance / M&A professional to work closely with the Executive Leadership Team and drive strategic business opportunities across the business.
  
The position reports to the General Manager Corporate Development and will work amongst an experienced team in the delivery of quality advice, research and analytical insights to senior stakeholders, and assist in the execution of acquisitions and divestments across the group.
  
Specific responsibilities will include:
  • Work with senior team members on the identification, development and execution of acquisitions and divestments, strategic projects and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Gather data and perform robust strategic and financial analysis, in particular financial modelling, to support decision making.
  • Support due diligence processes, including preparation of data rooms and engaging with the business and external advisers.
  • Support strategic reviews of major business units within the Group and the assessment of organic and inorganic growth opportunities.
  • Contribute to clear and compelling business presentations or reports for senior executive audiences (Executive Leadership Team, CEO, Board).
  • Proactively develop an understanding of the financial services industry, including monitoring financial services sector trends and developments.
  • Develop an understanding of the business, both at the Group and individual business level.
 We are seeking individuals with the following:
  • Tertiary qualifications in either Finance, Commerce or Law.
  • 1-2 years prior experience working in a similar Analyst role in M&A or Corporate Development role in-house or at an investment bank, corporate advisory firm or top tier chartered accounting firm.  Financial Services industry experience preferred but not essential.
  • Financial modelling and analytical expertise with good understanding of corporate finance concepts and methodologies.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with curiosity around financial and business news and trends.
  • Highly evolved written and spoken communication skills, critical thinking and ability to engage and influence both internal and external stakeholders.
