  • Implement, Guide, Teach and Define Best Practice
  • Full time or Fixed Term Contract
About the Role

We are looking for experienced Cloud Engineers to join our Brisbane & Melbourne teams at a key time in our transformation journey.  You will be responsible for taking our AWS transition to the next level, working with Agile product squads to build out best practice Serverless / Compute solutions as well as selecting / developing componentry to speed development and reduce risk.

This role requires an individual who is not just a technical wizard but also capable of winning hearts and minds, creating solutions and helping squads to incrementally change their practices.  You will deliver tangible benefits with every change, enabling squads to work faster and better.  To do this you will have experience as a full stack developer with multiple languages, be able to operate in an Agile Dev Ops environment and have demonstrated experience with C#, JavaScript and Python (ideally) as well as with Lambda and Containerisation.

Permanent Full Time and Fixed Term Contract options are available.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

As a Cloud Engineer in a 7 person Enablement squad you will:
  • Champion the adoption of AWS Serverless & Containerisation solutions by engaging with product squads (preferably by pairing);
  • Champion best practice, defining, documenting and sharing in a collaborative manner;
  • Collaborate with squads to drive change, understanding that all of the value delivered is via the changes in squad behaviour and squad built solutions;
  • Identify appropriate implementation patterns, document and share with squads to ease uptake while delivering best practice solutions;
  • Develop solutions to minimise the time to implement for squads, automating tasks, collecting metrics and minimising cycle time / speeding up feedback loops;
  • Develop or select components that support architectural transformation (microservices, microlith, etc.) while incrementally removing dependency on legacy platforms (Dynamics CRM);
  • Deliver “just enough” design (including coaching others to improve their designs), plotting a path to maximise value delivered while continually improving solutions;
  • Develop high-quality DevOps friendly platform components that bake in scalability, fault tolerance and security;
  • Develop new capabilities within the business by providing solutions for Serverless, Containerisation and Environment Refresh;
  • Live by the mantra “you build it, you run it”; and
  • Work with the architecture function to ensure solutions are consistent with architectural patterns, standards and practices that are developed to support solution delivery.
We'd love to hear from you if:

You are a passionate self-motivated individual who enjoys working with people to create positive change, with prior experience in both deeply technical roles and consulting or training roles; along with the following:
  • Demonstrated experience implementing AWS Serverless and Containerisation solutions as part of large scale system development;
  • Demonstrated experience acting as a change agent, peering with others to change their operating practices and to influence broad communities of technical experts, regardless of reporting lines;
  • Demonstrated experience with full stack development (7+ years) including mastery of c# and familiarisation with a variety of development languages and frameworks, preferably including JavaScript, python & html;
  • Demonstrated understanding of modern operational paradigms and how they can be leveraged;
  • Experience with Containerisation and Kubernetes;
  • Experience with AWS security and security best practice;
  • A skill for debugging systems without a full understanding of their operations, with a focus on resolving the root cause of the issue rather than the current symptom;
  • Honed Stakeholder management skills and the ability to adapt, manage and work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds;
  • Demonstrated success driving process and technical improvements through collaboration with teams by wining hearts and minds as well as illustrating that the recommend approach provides the best outcome;
  • Ability to work with complexity and ambiguity and resilience on striving for goals.
