Financial Accountant - Permanent Opportunity

Capital Recruit

Work for an award winning Canberra business creating bespoke products for Government

  • Work closely with the CFO and FC
  • Position the business for growth
  • Technology environment
The Organisation:
An award winning business that is stepping out of its start-up phase looking to position itself for considerable growth in the future.

They work with government clients locally and internationally producing bespoke and innovative products.

The Role:
Working closely with the CFO and financial controller you will be looking after all aspects of finance, from low level invoicing through to budget development and the production of the EOM and EOFY statements.  This is a role with a broad range of responsibilities where you will get your hands dirty.

The longer term plan is to expand the team and set up a more conventional structure where a finance officer will handle the more operational and transactional components of finance and you will supervise them and manage the technical and analytical responsibilities.

The business is in a transition phase – moving from a start-up with a skeleton staff; to a medium sized business with almost 70 people.  Their products and services are in demand and you will be working with the CFO and FC to ensure they are positioned well from a cashflow, risk and compliance perspective to take advantage of their success and grow according to projections.

It’s an exciting opportunity for someone who doesn’t mind pitching in at any level of finance initially and wants to make a real impact on the long-term success of the business.  You need to go through  a security clearance at the NV1 or NV2 level due to the nature of their clients.  This is a very invasive process but is a necessity for the role.

The role is pitched at the APS5 or Accountant level with a salary dependant on experience.

Your Skills and Experience:
From a technical perspective you need to be able demonstrate experience from varied finance roles where you have effectively contributed to/delivered EOM and EOFY financial statements.  You must also be able to demonstrate strong attention to detail and exposure with financial processing such as AP/AR and payroll.

Ideally you will be working towards your CA/CPA) and have experience of working from a private sector business or consulting/accounting firm.  Candidates with government experience are also encouraged to apply.
