The Role:

Reporting directly to the CFO, this role will be responsible for transforming and developing modern frameworks for financial reporting, projection and analytics that provide insights to support strategic decision-making, providing associated guidance and support to the team.

This role is also responsible for the financial reporting process which involves reporting and commentary for the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), and associated Boards and Committees, and Statutory Accounts and Annual Report, including liaising and be a contact point for external audit processes in conjunction with the Financial Controller.

This leadership position will lead the Financial Planning & Analysis team (4 direct reports) and support the of CFO in strategic financial decision-making for the Board, CEO and Executive Leadership Team.

Key tasks include:
  • Development and communication of the long-term financial plan to meet the current and future funding needs of the business.
  • Coordinate and manage overall rolling financial planning and budgeting processes, working closely with the finance team and wider business functions.
  • Analyse and understand monthly business results and their potential risks and/or any wider impacts on the business functions.
  • Work closely with the finance and leadership teams to design and implement integrated management reporting and analysis, that leverages on current and evolving information system capabilities, informing financial decision-making, reporting and risk management across the business to ensure financial and organisational targets and deliverables are achieved.
  • Develop an informed understanding of all business issues and needs and communicate cross functionally to ensure business goals are met by providing in-depth analysis and commentary.
  • Provide leadership, direction, mentoring and support to direct reports (including meaningful performance planning, management and staff development practices).  
Key Skills and Requirements 
  • CA Qualification with at a minimum of 7 years’ experience within a large complex organisation, with strong experience in financial performance reporting, planning and analysis.
  • Solid staff management experience with demonstrated success in effectively leading and managing a team.
  • Strong strategic thinking capability and analytical ability, including an understanding of the key business drivers and how they impact financial performance.
  • Strong experience with annual budgeting and rolling forecasting including providing effective support, information and communication to multiple functions.
  • Advanced experience in business intelligence systems, particularly Microsoft PowerBI or similar, and their application. Database systems/queries, report writing, SQL, writing macros and high-level skills in Excel is desirable.
  • Strong verbal, written communication and presentation skills with the ability to build credibility and constructive relationships cross- functionally and at all levels.
