About the Role

This unique position is responsible for ensuring that all packaging materials for our extensive range of products, meet all required specifications within Manufacturing, Logistics and Costs. Maintaining all relevant details within their appropriate Data Bases. Liaising with Operations and Marketing/Sales on New Product Development Projects, there is a strong Project Management focus to ensure that finished goods get to market on time. A focus on identifying opportunities for cost reduction whether through alternative packaging materials or through revision to current processes.Reviewing and administering supplier agreements to ensure they meet the ongoing needs of the business.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Develop and maintain all packaging components used in the assembly of finished goods. In accordance with ‘Group Guidelines’ and relevant SOPs
  • In consultation with the shop-floor and the relevant Production Planner, introduce new components as required by the Change Management Procedure
  • Develop and maintain various catalogues and registers (electronic and hardcopy) ; repositories of data, diagrams and samples; cross-indexed and summarized
  • Administer the contractual elements of supplier arrangements, including the review and recommendation to the COO with regard to quotes, formal agreements, comparisons of product specifications
  • In conjunction with the relevant Planner(s), follow-up on orders and documentation to ensure satisfactory service levels are being attained /maintained by suppliers with regard to the contractual elements.
  • Develop, maintain and expand, standard operating procedures, associated guidelines, registers and/or otherwise, for processes or practices. Identifying problem areas and initiating process improvements and or streamlining
  • In collaboration with the Sales Support Executive, remain conversant with the Guidelines and Standards of the EAN-Net system to ensure we remain compliant with the mandatory requirements and are aware of any shifting trends
  • Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders to effectively negotiate and influence
  • An understanding of production and material planning principles
  • Experience in a manufacturing processes for a high volume FMCG
To be successful for this role you must have the following:
  • High level analytical & problem solving skills
  • Computer literacy in JD Edwards or similar ERP, Excel, Access and SQL
  • The ability to provide technical knowledge to the leadership team and production team
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in a similar role inside a high volume FMCG environment
  • APICS Certification or Tertiary Qualifications in a business or logistics related discipline
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, including interpersonal Skills
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
