This is a newly created role in a Government Authority for a individual to join the Communications team, and you will play an important role in the establishment of a strategic corporate and internal team.

We are looking for someone who holds strong experience in developing and implementing communications strategies, plans and material to meet internal communications needs. You will hold exceptional communication skills, both oral and written along with excellent stakeholder management skills.

Your client service skills will be vital to this role as you will be required to communicate diverse changes to various people across the group and provide sound communication advice. Your ability to think strategically whilst also playing a hands-on role to deliver communication outcomes is a major requirement.
This position is offered initially as a contract opportunity for twelve months, with a view to transitioning to a permanent role going forward. We are looking for candidates to join one of the following regional offices:
  • Griffith
  • Mildura
  • Goondiwindi
This position offers the unique opportunity to work from home on an ongoing basis, so other regional locations may also be considered.
Duties for this role are:
  • Liaise with the senior executive on corporate and internal communication initiatives.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate communication strategies to inform MDBA staff about corporate and internal activities.
  • Oversee the development of a range of communication materials to meet the information and access needs of diverse audience groups.
  • Provide specialist communications support and advice to line areas to effectively communicate internally through established channels.
  • Other communications processes and administration as required
Mandatory for this role:
  • Five years’ experience in an internal or corporate communication role, preferably in the government context.
  • Demonstrated experience working successfully with senior executive.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating ability to influence and represent an organisation to audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop communications strategies and end-user communications materials.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism, marketing or related field.
Desirable for this role: Communications expertise:
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with stakeholders (such as regional, agricultural industries and interest groups).
