Comdain continues to grow its portfolio of utility clients within Brisbane. With this growth comes the opportunity for an experienced Commercial Manager, with a background in water and gas utility space to join the team.

As the Commercial Manager you would lead our Brisbane Electrical Mechanical Instrumentation (EMI) division with a focus on strategy development and planning for bidding and tendering the water, gas and civil utility infrastructure projects

Specifically your duties will include, but are not limited to;
  • The role is to continue our growth and success of the Queensland business as it bids and delivers projects across the Queensland business. We’re looking for a senior candidate to lead and manage our bid management & estimating teams across Comdain’s portfolio of clients .
  • As a Pre-Contracts manager you will add value to our clients proposals and further grow Comdain’s self-performance and supply chain capability of the Brisbane Operation.
  • You will regularly coordinate with Clients, Estimators, Designers, Operations and our National EMI team.
  • Work closely and engage with the business development staff to identify, target, position and win opportunities that strengthens and enhances our sustained growth as well as exploring new opportunities.
  • Demonstrated experience with submission interviews and presentations and lead our submissions through this key process to success
  • Demonstrated ability in expert and specialised cognitive and technical skills required to manage and advise upon legal and commercial contracts during the tendering and construction phases.
  • The Commercial Manager is an integral part of the Queensland business to engage with local operations in supporting our ongoing profitable growth by winning new programs, projects and supporting the successful delivery of projects won. This includes delivering optimal tender designs, best practice project designs, and driving innovation into all of our technical solutions across the bid estimates.
  • Hands-on experience with their approach to developing winning bid strategies, bid preparations, bid management and ongoing design management support throughout the project delivery phase.
The role is an integral part of the Comdain EMI team reporting directly to the Program Manager  and has a functional reporting line to the GM Development to facilitate the sharing of resources, learnings and know how across all Comdain Infrastructure projects & services
 
What do you bring?
  • Ability in bidding and delivery of water/waste water projects across both networks and Treatment infrastructure.
  • 10 years plus with contract negotiation and contract management experience in operational, commercial roles
  • Strong communication skills and ability to develop collaborative relationships with all stakeholders
  • Be a strong influencer and negotiator able to successfully challenge the status quo of a business operating in a financially and operationally challenged business environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills at the strategic and tactical levels.
  • Bachelor of Commerce, Civil, Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering;
