About the Opportunity
  
We are committed to developing young people to meet the future needs of our organisation and the community through our St John Youth Program, focussing on the engagement of young people between the ages of 12 – 18 years old in a first aid orientated youth membership program.
  
The Youth Project Officer supports the Volunteer Services Manager, the State Youth Manager and the State Youth Team in the development, administration and coordination of St John youth and activities. This role is responsible for the implementation of significant elements and initiatives of the St John Youth program with a particular emphasis on member engagement and development.
  
There is a requirement to be generally available out of hours, during evenings and on weekends. Some overnight travel may be required to regional Victoria as required.
  
About You
  
We are currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual who enjoys working with people of all ages and across a variety of backgrounds. You will ideally have experience working with youth and understand the approach and engagement with young people to provide a safe, positive and supportive environment and experience.
  
Essential Skills and Attributes (Selection Criteria):
  
  • Experience in the development and/or delivery of youth programs or education, and knowledge of principles and strategies for engaging and educating young people.
  • Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce high quality documents such as reports, project plans and online communications, and to present information effectively to groups.
  • Demonstrated experience in working collaboratively in a team environment, and the ability to establish effective relationships with project stakeholders.
  • Well-developed organisation and time management skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise and organise workloads in order to meet competing demands and timelines.
  • Demonstrated analytical and research skills, with the capacity to seek information from other organisations, identify key issues and introduce new ideas into existing work practices.
  • Intermediate / Advanced computer literacy skills, including Microsoft Office use, Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Willingness to undertake a current Police check and Working with Children Check.
