Operations Manager - Fire Protection

Maritime, defence & offshore safety systems specialising in fire protection. Autonomous role with national support for growing Cairns branch.

My client are leaders in maritime and offshore safety systems specialising in the installation and maintenance of fire protection equipment. They are now inline to employ a hands-on Operations Manager to work independently helping to grow the company and assist in improving processes and procedures for their Cairns operation.

This people-focussed role will see you develop strategies to increase revenue and profit whilst ensuring the smooth operational functions of the Cairns branch. Other duties will consist of the following:
  • Forecasting and reporting on the company’s assets and financials including; return on investment, turnover, OH&S, Environmental and Quality Assurance
  • Liaising with the logistics and support team for service equipment
  • Business development; tender submissions
  • Implement and monitor KPI’s for project staff and ensure targets are being met
  • Adhere to and maintain strict OH&S policies and procedures and ensure that all staff are accountable for safe work practices
  • Preparing customer quotes and scheduling works
  • Liaise with the workshop and ensure regular reports are completed on maintenance and project work
About You:
Ideally you will come from a mechanical trade or technical background with experience in, marine or offshore sectors with the ability to confidently manage the company’s budget.  You will have a natural flair in dealing with people and be able to “talk-the-talk” with the trades people on site.  Other qualities will include:
  • Sound PC skills
  • Understanding of the fire protection industry or mechanical services industry
  • Ability to travel to and from site (both on and offshore) if required
  • Current driver’s license
  • Strong commitment to safety with a practice what you preach attitude
  • Ability to remain calm and thrive under pressure whilst prioritising multiple objectives
  • Previous experience with High Pressure FFE systems such as CO2/ FM200 (desirable -  not essential)
  • Previous experience within Portable Testing, Sales and Service segment (Desirable - not essential)
  • BSA / QBCC License (Desirable - not essential)
This is a permanent role with a negotiable and lucrative base salary and bonuses. Our client will also be investing significant funds in up-skilling the right person with several tickets and licenses should they be required providing you with a solid career path.

The position is based in the newly formed Cairns office.
