Company Overview

In 2008, Adelaide teenager Sam Davis fell victim to a violent and unprovoked one-punch assault that cost him his life. Sam’s death is part of an alarming trend in our society around alcohol and other drug fuelled violence. The Foundation was founded with the ultimate aim of preventing such a tragedy from ever happening again. Through education and awareness programs on bullying prevention, violence prevention and alcohol and other drug education, the Sammy D Foundation offers advice and support to people of all ages, it has equipped more than 140,000 young people across South Australia throughout schools and sporting clubs with the knowledge needed to keep themselves and their mates safe.

Role Overview

Due to strong business growth, the Sammy D Foundation is now seeking a dynamic and experienced Fundraising & Marketing Manager to join their passionate team. Reporting to the General Manager, this position is responsible for the leadership of the organisation’s fundraising strategy including donor acquisition, event and relationship management across all giving streams, in addition to managing Sammy D Foundation’s marketing and communication strategies. This role will require travel to various metropolitan locations and some out of hours work including weekends.

Other key responsibilities include: -
  • Developing and implementing an overarching fundraising strategy to generate and increase support and revenue;
  • Developing a partnership plan to establish new corporate sponsors in line with the organisation’s strategic plan;
  • Managing department resources, budgets, assets, projects and staffing/volunteers to maximise productivity as well as to ensure staff reach their full potential;
  • Developing and implementing a marketing plan including digital marketing through website and social media platforms;
  • Developing and maintaining effective relationships to strengthen the organisation’s communication with a wide range of stakeholders and supporters;
  • Managing fundraising events and proactively identifying opportunities to market and promote Sammy D Foundation’s service offering.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
  • Proven experience in a similar role within the Not for Profit Sector with the ability to plan and implement a wide range of fundraising opportunities;
  • Strong business acumen with well developed budgeting, forecasting and reporting skills;
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to build rapport with a wide range of stakeholders as well as to establish and maintain corporate partnerships;
  • Sound understanding and knowledge of governance requirements and relevant legislation;
  • Valid driver’s licence.
The successful candidate will possess excellent people management skills with the ability to foster innovation and collaboration as well as to coach and mentor the team to achieve and exceed individual team goals. A flexible, accountable and motivated individual who has strong analytical skills and implementation capabilities with the ability to work independently and cooperatively across all levels of the organisation is highly desirable for this role. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant fundraising/marketing discipline along with industry knowledge and experience is advantageous, however not essential.
