Role Overview

Reporting directly to the Operations Director, the Manufacturing Process Development Manager is the technical expert in glass container design, bottle forming equipment, operation and process, and as such, this role must ensure that all plant and equipment is set up and running to optimum performance. This is done by assisting plant quality, forming and engineering personnel in all aspects of the process including: bottle design, setups, root cause analysis, training and development requirements.

Other responsibilities for this role include:
  • Ensuring the safety of all personnel working within the manufacturing environment.
  • Analysing manufacturing  processes and assisting the Production, Finished Product, Forming and Engineering Managers, in order to continuously improve line  efficiencies – quality then quantity;
  • Technical design input for new product developments and designs
  • Assisting with the job off/on process to ensure continuous improvement with each job prior to its next run;
  • Assisting with the analysis and improvement of job changes efficiencies;
  • Analysing glass manufacturing  operations to assist with the identification and rectification of faults;
  • Assisting with the development of training programs for Forming Specialists and Line Leaders and others as needed;
  • Promoting a culture of customer focus, quality and systematic improvement within the Manufacturing Operations.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Overall, the successful candidate will be an expert in bottle making and will hold various skill sets in areas such as bottle forming, machine engineering and mould design. You will possess either an engineering or scientific mindset, with excellent technical abilities in order to effectively problem-solve and create solutions. Orora is also seeking someone with proven leadership skills, who can engage, encourage and bring their colleagues along on the journey. Furthermore, you will also hold university qualifications, with the ability to be both systematic and methodical.
