UExcel Medical Recruitment  are seeking Rotational RMOs to join a hospital in ACT for the 2021 training year. This position will be well-supported and has excellent teaching and education opportunities. You will have the opportunity to rotate through various specialties, including Emergency Medicine, Medicine and ICU. You will be supporting Registrars and Consultants to provide high level care to the local population

Start Date: 2021 Training Year (Feb start)

Classification: RMO 1/SRMO 1 – 3 (Dependent on level of PGY)

The Health Service is focussed on the delivery of high quality, effective, person centred care. It provides acute, sub-acute, primary and community‐based health services, to the Australian Capital Territory (ACT)—a catchment of approximately 400,000 people. It also services the surrounding Southern New South Wales.
  • A modern 600-bed tertiary hospital providing trauma services and most major medical and surgical sub-specialty services.
  • Mental Health, Justice Health, Alcohol and Drug Services provide a range of health services from prevention and treatment through to recovery and maintenance at a number of locations and in varied environments for people suffering from mental health issues.
  • Five Walk-in Centres: which provide free treatment for minor illness and injury.
  • Seven community health centres: providing a range of general and specialist health services to people of all ages.
  • A range of community-based health services including early childhood services, youth and women’s health, dental health, mental health and alcohol and drug services.
Overview of the work area and position:

Rotations may include:
  • Emergency Medicine 
  • Various Medical specialty rotations
  • Palliative Care 
  • Rehabilitation
  • Various rotations in other departments
  • Various surgical specialty rotations
1. Provide day-to-day medical care for patients of the Health Services Directorate at a level commensurate with the level of clinical experience and under the supervision and direction of more senior medical staff.
2. Demonstrate appropriate progression toward more independent medical practice, with concomitant development of clinical knowledge, skills and behaviours required for safe medical practice.
3. Work within and support the multidisciplinary clinical team.
4. Contribute to clinical audit and participate in changes that improve quality and safety of patient care.
5. Participate in the supervision and education of more junior medical staff and contribute to the education of medical students.
6. Maintain adequate medical records with legible entries, and complete discharge summaries on time.
7. Participate in the after-hour’s roster as required and in accordance with current safe working hour’s provisions.
8. Undertaking other duties as directed, within the approved scope of clinical practice ensuring the delivery of high-quality person and family centred, safe and high-quality patient care.

Qualifications and experience:
  • General Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Limited or provisional registration accepted with Level 2 supervision and above.
  • Current Basic Life Support skills as a minimum, and Advanced Life Support skills where required.
Please note prior to commencement successful candidates will be required to:
  • Undergo a pre-employment Police check.
  • Obtain a Compliance Certificate from OMU (Occupational Medicine Unit) relating to assessment, screening & vaccination processes against specified infectious diseases.
