UExcel Medical Recruitment are currently working with a major hospital in Melbourne who are in urgent need of a Psychiatry registrar to join their mental health team on a permanent basis in 2019. (September onwards)
The position is within the mental health inpatient unit and would suit psychiatry registrars looking for accredited position in 2019. (salary for this position is dependent on experience).

Responsibilities: Operational / Clinical
As the registrar you are accountable to your Unit Head/consultant for the care all the patients in the unit. It is your responsibility to: 
Provide safe and high quality person-centred care for patients under your care ,
Ensure coordination of care for patients in your unit 
Ensure timely and clear clinical communication including clinical handover with regards to patients under your care,
Ensure timely escalation of care related issues to your consultant when required 

Attend to any medical and psychiatric emergencies in the work area and conduct prompt and immediate assessment. 
Under the supervision of the Consultant psychiatrist to be responsible for the clinical assessment and treatment of patients. This will include physical examination, investigations and ongoing patient reviews, management and treatment planning and participation in multidisciplinary work. 
Assessment of patients should include comprehensive bio-psych-social assessment.  Conduct detailed risk assessment of patients as per protocol.  Conduct assessment of the side effects and manage the side effects.  Initiate treatment as per guidelines and also under the direction of the supervising consultant psychiatrist and follow up and review the effectiveness of treatment.  Participate in ECT roster and provide ECT service under supervision.  Provide clinical leadership to the allocated team under the supervision of the consultant.  Support the consultant in meeting clinical service requirement.  Provide support to the junior medical staff in case review and care planning.  Attend and constructively participate in multidisciplinary meetings.  Liaise with community mental health services and other community health and service providers.  Ensure excellent working knowledge of Mental Health Act and uses their provision when required under the supervision of the consultant psychiatrist.  Ensure that all practice guidelines, protocols and job summaries of the allocated team or unit is adhered to.  Participate in the afterhours duty rosters as allocated.

Qualifications/ Registrations/ Licenses 
A medical qualification (MBBS or equivalent) which is recognised for registration by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency 
Registered as a Trainee by RANZCP for Senior Registrars 
Eligible for the exemption pathway of RANZCP for exemption candidates 
Motor vehicle driver licence
