The Opportunity

Genomic Diagnostics is the nationally co-ordinated testing service for the pathology division of Healius, operating a comprehensive accredited genomic testing facility in Melbourne. Our primary focus is to provide an efficient genomic pathology service across Australia to our patients and practitioners. The testing service spans both constitutional and somatic testing, providing genetic and genomic information which assists in diagnosis and clinical decision-making. 
Reporting to the National Head of Genetics, the Genetic Pathologist role is the clinical lead for all complex genetic and genomic test reporting. In addition, the key purpose of this role is to:
  • Enhance and support ongoing GD accreditation and clinical governance through laboratory supervision
  • Participation and leadership in the development, validation and implementation of new testing techniques
  • Assist in prioritisation of new products/services, aiming to enhance brand visibility and reputation
  • Develop relationships with end referrers – internal and external
  • To advance the mission of providing affordable and accessible genetic testing to our clients.
About you

The ideal candidate for this role will have current registration as a medical practitioner with AHPRA and FRCPA with scope of practice in genetics. Essential to this role is your experience in general inherited genetics, reproductive genetics and oncology genetics. Experience in genomics is highly desirable.
