THE COLLEGE

Moreton Bay College was established in 1901 as a school for girls from P-12 and now supports an enrolment in excess of 1200 students.  The College offers a rigorous education program as well as a very broad program in sporting, musical, cultural and fellowship activities.  The campus is built on 19 hectares of spacious, landscaped grounds situated just 15 kilometres from Brisbane. Moreton Bay College is a school where every girl can develop her individual strengths and the confidence to make a unique contribution to the world.

Moreton Bay College (Long Day Care) Childcare provides a safe, supportive and nurturing environment for the boys and girls in its care.  MBC Childcare is adjacent to the College’s Prep Facility and is a fully licensed 69 place Long Day Care Centre available to both girls and boys and includes facilities catering for children aged 15 months to 5 years.  The Centre operates from 6:30am to 6:00pm Monday to Friday (except for Public Holidays), for 50 weeks of the year – closing only for two weeks over the Christmas and New Year period.

THE POSITION

We currently have a position for a full-time fixed term Childcare Educator. This fixed term contract will be until December 2021, with a view to extending into 2022.  We are seeking  creative, dedicated team members who have a genuine passion for child-centred learning and a strong understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework.
  
Our Childcare Educators report to the Deputy Head of Primary - Early Learning and ultimately the Principal. 
  
All staff need to be supportive of the values, Christian ethos and Ethical Statement of this Uniting Church Day school for girls from P-12.
    
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assisting with the implementation of the Early Childhood Program
  • Nurturing each child and providing individual attention and comfort as required.
  • Work with groups of children to support their learning.
  • Help maintain the environment, resources and equipment.
  • Understanding and working according to the Childcare Centre Policies
  • Work in partnership with children and families to support learning outcomes.
  • Complete light cleaning duties as required.
  • Assist with administration duties as required.
  • Ensuring the health and safety of all children in their care.
  • Engage in professional discussions about the learning program and continuous improvement.
  • Other duties may be assigned by teachers or the leadership team.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Broad knowledge of child development and current early childhood trends and practices.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
  • Competent IT skills.

  • Demonstrate workplace health and safety practices.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. (or equivalent)
  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent)
  • A good understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Standards (NQS)
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Working with Children Suitability Card is essential.
  • Certificate III or Diploma in Early childhood and Care
  • First Aid Certificate
  • CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Staff are resourced with a shared desk and computer.
  • The Childcare Centre has a shared lunchroom.
  • This role can require a high level of physical activity and requires a physically capable individual.
  • On occasion there will be a need to lift a child (approx weight 15kg)
  • Excellent auditory and visual capacity is required because of child safety.
CONDITIONS AND SALARY
  • Wages are paid according to the Moreton Bay College Enterprise Agreement.
  • Annual Leave - 4 weeks, to be taken during school vacation time.
  • Sick Leave entitlement as per Moreton Bay College Enterprise Agreement.
  • Long Service Leave entitlement as per the Moreton Bay College Enterprise Agreement.
  • The College contributes superannuation on behalf of the employee as per the Moreton Bay College Enterprise Agreement.
