Qualified Teacher - Part Time - Preschool (BestStart Mount Eden)

BestStart Educare

We are an incredible centre passionate about providing the very best opportunities for our tamariki. Our houses are filled with joy, play and aroha.

BestStart Mount Eden is a home-away-from-home with passionate kaiako who believe in bringing joy and beauty to the everyday lives of our tamariki. We are enthusiastic about creating a home-from-home filled with heart and aroha. We take particular inspiration from the philosophies and teachings of Magda Gerber and believe that our tamariki deserve a space in which they can unfold in their own unique way.

This is a rare part-time/flexible role. We are open to discussing hours for the right person but would prefer 8.30 - 2.30pm. At BestStart Mount Eden you will receive a competitive wage, generous non-contact time, childcare discounts, paid staff meetings, extra sick days, training incentives and career development opportunities!
We take pride in our values of Aroha, Joy, Play, Respect and Trust and believe that our tamariki are capable and competent learners who benefit from engaged kaiako as well as real-life experiences and resources. We strive to inspire creativity and independence through loose parts and are great advocates for teaching as inquiry and sharing our own passions with the tamariki.

Our centre is constantly evolving and innovating. So, we are looking for a kaiako for our Infants and Toddlers room who is reflective and excited to be involved in our continuous cycle of internal evaluation and change.

Our ‘Meadow’ houses a mud pit and kitchen, a worm farm, a vegetable garden and a fire pit which helps us to be more connected with papatuanuku and the natural wonders of the world around us.

This position is for a kaiako who is looking to grow and develop their own practice as they reflect and grow together with the existing team. As our kaiako you will display the below skills and attributes in your role:-
  • Skilled in documenting high quality and attractive individual learning journeys/planning
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Value high quality and relaxed but professional, whanau kaiako partnerships
  • Respectful and supportive practice
  • Intrinsically motivated to provide a beautiful environment for our tamariki
  • Engaged in ongoing learning and contribute to a supportive and welcoming team culture
  • A can do and solution based outlook on life
  • Initiative, Passion and drive as a kaiako AND ako
If you enjoy building nurturing and respectful relationships and want to do something to make your heart sing every day then we would love to hear from you!
