The Opportunity
This is a hands on management role in a fully automated plant working in a cross functional engineering capacity. This involves working with fellow engineers/managers on a variety of engineering projects for enhancing the clients Lean manufacturing capability.

The company
Our client is unique and well respected in their field of providing high quality and innovative glass products   both here in New Zealand and Australia and have been in operation for more than 30 years. They have a number of sites across New Zealand including all the main centres and around the provinces. They currently operate 4 manufacturing sites and are responsible for producing a range of customised glass products that are predominantly used in residential and non-residential construction applications.

The Role
Reporting to the Plant Manager your key activities will be:
  
  • Plant Reliability
  • Overall responsibility for repairs and maintenance of plant and machinery
  • Manage Engineering level relationships including external contractors
  • Continuous Improvement particularly machine reliability and operating performance
  • Environment, Health, Safety and Risk in particular, providing a safe and hazard free environment
  • Leadership in assigning, directing and evaluating the Engineering Team’s performance
  Experience and attributes
  
As the successful candidate you will need to have the following attributes and experience:
  • Proven successful track record of managing and improving machinery reliability in a modern high speed manufacturing environment
  • Proven track record in resolving engineering problems
  • Must be familiar with the execution of FMEA and other Lean Six Sigma tools.
  • Project Management experience
  • Experience in pneumatics, hydraulic and electrical systems with a working knowledge of engineering methods
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an Engineering Management role
  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is essential
  • Be committed to EHSR excellence
  • Strong leader with a lead by example approach
  • Possess excellent communication skills, written and verbal with a demonstrable focus on customer service
